Cookie Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective date: [to be set on publication]

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how and why we use them on this website, and how you can manage your choices. It forms part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by The Carbon Co, a trading name of Themis Carbon CY Limited (registration number HE 450468), a company incorporated in the Republic of Cyprus (“we”, “us”, “our”), which is the data controller for personal data processed through cookies on this website.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website operator. “Similar technologies” include pixels, tags, software development kits, local storage and device identifiers that perform comparable functions. In this policy we refer to all of these as “cookies”.

Cookies may be session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain until they expire or are deleted. They may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by a third party whose services appear on our pages (third-party cookies).

3. Our legal basis for using cookies

Our use of cookies is governed by the EU ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC, as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC) as implemented in the Republic of Cyprus, read together with the GDPR and Cyprus Law 125(I)/2018.

Strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functional website and do not require consent. All other cookies (preferences, analytics and marketing) are set only with your prior consent, which is declined by default. Where these cookies involve the processing of personal data, our legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

4. The categories of cookies we use

A detailed, up-to-date inventory of the specific cookies in each category — including their name, provider, purpose and duration — is available within the cookie-preference tool on this website and is maintained as our use of cookies changes.

5. Managing your consent

When you first visit our website, you are presented with a cookie banner that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Non-essential cookies are not set unless and until you give your consent. You may change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie-preference tool, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

6. Controlling cookies through your browser

Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. The methods vary between browsers and versions; please consult your browser’s help function. Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may not function correctly.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how such signals should be interpreted, our website does not currently respond to them. We will review this position if a recognised standard is adopted.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in applicable law. The current version is identified by the version number and effective date at the top of this page.

8. Contact us

If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please contact us at privacy@thecarbon.co. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Cyprus (www.dataprotection.gov.cy).

This policy is provided as a template drafted to the standard of applicable EU and Cyprus law. The specific cookie inventory and any bracketed items should be confirmed against the deployed website and finalised by qualified counsel before publication.
